Fertility – Is your man ready?

Fertility issues have been on the rise in the recent years and while the focus is often on the woman, it is important to not forget that men are the other 50% of the equation.

Research shows that couples who are having fertility issues and difficulties becoming pregnant can increase their chances of successful fertilization if the male partner has adequate levels of antioxidants, especially zinc and selenium. These nutrients have been studied to increase low sperm counts and low sperm motility as well as sperm quality. A good multi-vitamin high in zinc and selenium such as the Twice Daily Multi along with an antioxidant blend such as the Detox Antiox work as a great combination in providing the needed nutrients with only a few pills per day.

Antioxidant status can also be depleted by free radicals therefore we recommend lowering toxic exposure, drinking plenty of pure, non-chlorinated water, increasing good fats and oils such as coconut and avocado and avoiding char-grilled/burnt foods. We also recommend using caution when carrying cell phones around the waist line or in pant pockets as they may emit harmful radiation that can damage sperm.

It takes approximately 3 months for new sperm to form so taking action ahead of time with lifestyle and nutritional changes is very beneficial for both partners as a preparation for conception.
