PerioMint™ is a functional breath mint. Taken between or just after meals, PerioMint™, which contains xylitol and calcium glycerophosphate, can help with controlling the proliferation of anaerobic bacteria (e.g., Streptococcus mutans/sobrinus) which can lead to tooth decay and periodontal disease. These two ingredients in combination have been demonstrated in studies to be as or more effective than fluoride as anticariogenic (i.e., anti-cavity) agents. Calcium glycerophosphate has also been shown to be effective in the remineralization of tooth enamel. Regular use of PerioMint™ is recommended as research suggests that longer and more frequent exposure of the teeth to these compounds results in optimal anti-caries action.
