Greetings, Hope you are enjoying the great weather! Read on for new research and tips on staying healthy!

Heavy metals are 100% natural, so why are they so dangerous? They are dangerous because they were meant to remain safely locked up into the earth. But due to thousands of years or modern progress, theyre now released into your surroundings at astonishing rates. Metals are also present in items we use everyday like cosmetics and personal hygiene products, newspapers, ceramic mugs, computer monitors, candles and more. Your body simply wasnt designed to handle and eliminate this huge toxic burden.

Heavy metals such a aluminum, arsenic cadmium, lead, mercury and nickel can cause hundreds of health problems and lead to various diseases such as Alzheimers, appetite loss, behavioral problems, tooth decay, colds, bowel trouble, confusion, excess sweating, headaches, heartburn, kidney problems, lowered immune function, ADD, bone, loss, skin problems, memory loss, nerve degeneration, vision loss, digestive problems, estrogen dominance, liver dysfunctions, mood swings, muscle weakness, weight issues etc.. There are also metals such as copper, which is essential to our health, however when it gets out of balance, copper becomes toxic and causes many of the same problems listed above. One of the major effects of copper toxicity is estrogen dominance which leads many hormone disturbances and eventually diseases such as cancer.

Obviously, we cannot to live in a bubble so how do we go about getting rid of these metals? Its actually easier than it sounds and it doesnt have to cost you thousands of dollars either. There are many antagonistic relationships between vitamins and minerals and these heavy metals. Getting tested to find out if and what kind of heavy metals you have can give a clue to the treatment. Depending on the metal, specific vitamin and mineral therapies can be prescribed to loosen and mobilize the metals.

If the situation is more severe, chelation therapy may also be used. There are two kinds of chelation, oral and IV. In IV chelation, agents such as EDTA that remove metals are injected through an IV once a week. This therapy usually needs to be repeated for 10 weeks. While this is very effective, this is also extremely harsh as it may take out some essential elements along with the metals. This treatment is also very expensive. Fortunately, studies show that oral chelation works perfectly well in most cases. The cost of the pills is comparable to most supplements so it wont break your wallet and the more gentle nature of this treatment gets the metals out without damaging the balance of other essential elements. I advise everyone, but especially women of childbearing age, to get their metals tested and remove any unnecessary toxicities as they can pass to the fetus.

Current research states that 6-10 time every day, a human body goes through the opportunity to go into onco-genetic expression, meaning that you have the option to go ahead and form a tumor. Those 6-10 times it does not happen because of the fact that apoptosis (death messages that come to an abnormal cell) successfully do what they are designed to do in their genetic programming. When a cancer cell establishes, in order for it to live, it needs to receive the so called do not die messages. These cells depend on very abnormally high levels of cell signaling or chattering in order to survive and if they dont receive this fairly continuous levels of cell signals as well as do not die messages they will literally self destruct through apoptosis. All of that cell signaling is transduced by the action of certain proteins.

There is a lot of new research about these proteins specifically the P53 and P21 proteins. The P53 proteins are the guardians of the DNA. They monitor for DNA damage, and if any is detected, they will either halt the cell cycle to stop it from replication or they will initiate DNA repair, usually through DNA enzymes which are all zinc and magnesium dependent. If the cell is irreparable, the P53s will actually induce apoptosis. There are 10-15 residues that are linked to the protein through zinc so the P53 is absolutely zinc dependent and as a resul,t it is totally inactivated by the presence of heavy metals, particularly cadmium and copper.

One of the real difficulties we are having is that the presence of these metals (and its not very hard to have them because zinc deficiency is so widespread) will lead the P53 to inactivation and this will lead to the deregulation of cancer because the irreparable cells will not die and will have a chance to replicate. Todays research shows that this is the base of where solid tumors form.

But there is good news! One of the really interesting aspects is that the apoptotic actions of the P53 proteins can be stimulated by natural compounds and they can still have the ability to go on a seek and destroy mission for these altered cancer cells. Curcumin is one of the best natural compounds, followed by resveratrol, green tea catechins, quercetin and vitamin E. Green tea catechins and curcurmin have been shown to induce apoptosis in leukemia and breast cancer cells exactly like a chemotherapy agent would without the damage that occurs to normal cells during chemotherapy. These extracts will actually reactivate the P53 proteins which have been inactivated by zinc deficiency and metal toxicity which is huge news! So action to take: It is always important to get tested for heavy metals and use therapies to chelate and mobilize those metals out of the body. However if you know your metals are above normal, you should increase your intake of zinc and the above mentioned compounds to counteract the effects the metals have on the body.

I know that drinking water is good for us, but I just can't seem to get enough, any ideas?

Getting our daily requirement of water helps our organs perform their functions, keeps our skin clear and hydrated, and allows physical action in our bodies to flow smoothly. Even with this knowledge, it can still be challenging to drink all the water our bodies deserve daily. Especially in the summer, when we tend to play hard, break a sweat, drinking plenty of water is critical. Those who are not drinking enough may experience poor digestion, sluggish thinking, skin breakouts, headaches, bad breath and general fatigue.

To start your day right, set a large glass of water by your bed each night and drink it when you wake up. When the first thing that flows through your body each morning is water, it pulls out toxins left over from the previous day and freshens your system for the day ahead. Keep a bottle of water accessible throughout the day, whether you are on the go or at a desk. Having one close by will remind you to take a sip when thirsty. The first sip will usually let you know how much more water you need. A sip or two may be enough, or you may need a big glass. If you drink most of your daily water before early evening, you most likely will not be thirsty before bed. This is good, because drinking before bed, and then waking to use the bathroom, disturbs your peaceful nights sleep.

What about quality? Some people like bottled water, while others prefer filtered water. The key is to like the taste of the water you are drinking, and the water should agree with your body. Tap is not the best option as it may contain many toxins and fluoride (yes fluoride is considered a toxin-more on that in future newsletters). If the taste of plain water is unappealing, experiment to see how you can make it tasty and drinkable. Adding a few mint leaves, a wedge of lemon, a sprig of parsley, slices of cucumber, or a twist of lime are all great.
