The Suracell Personal Genetic Profile Test
DNA screening affords you an unprecedented opportunity to take charge of your health. The screening results, used in conjunction with the Lifestyle Questionnaire, will show the best way for you to achieve and maintain optimal health without having to rely on family history alone in determining what the future might hold for you.
Personal DNA Analysis is a revolutionary DNA screening that puts the power of scientific innovation at your fingertips. Unlike medical diagnostic tests that simply determine whether you have or do not have a disease, Personal DNA Analysis identifies truly individualized ways to help you maintain long-term health and well-being by looking inside your DNA.
What is DNA?
DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the molecule inside the nucleus of all cells that carries the genetic instructions for making living organisms. A gene is a piece of DNA. Together with your environment, your genes shape your development as a human being by making the proteins needed to construct a complete living organism.
What happens when DNA is damaged?
The latest science shows that DNA damage and poor repair are major causes of premature aging and many age-related diseases. Newly forming cells look to their predecessors for their identity in a process analogous to photocopying. But as time goes by, environmental pollution, dietary factors, lifestyle issues and genetic inheritance combine to erode the cellular genetics in an aging process unique to each individual. As the quality of new cells gradually degrades, our “cellular Soup”(the molecules, nutrients, and chemicals that circulate in and among the millions of cells of the body and determine our genetic potential) becomes deficient in various nutrients and minerals. This can cause a breakdown in functions throughout the body and, over time, promote disease and accelerated aging. Furthermore, these potentially damaged genes can be passed on through multiple generations. This means that damage can be done to your mother’s or even grandmother’s exposure. We need to actually repair the damage to our DNA to improve and maintain health.
Personal DNA Analysis is a report, developed from the DNA you provide(a cheek swab-based Genetic Profile and a DNA Assessment, a simple urine test, which is mailed to our independent lab in pre-paid safety mailers included in the test kit) that pinpoints inherited and acquired genetic variations.
The Suracell Personal Genetic Profile Test
This test identifies the inherited strength or weakness of your DNA based on the functional rates of metabolism related to
glycation,
inflammation,
oxidation and
methylation.
The DNA of any two individuals is about 99.9% identical, yet every one of us (except for identical twins) is genetically unique. The difference from person to person lies in the last .01%, termed SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms). It is now possible to identify the gene or group of genes responsible for our physical characteristics from hair and eye color to height and for predisposition to specific health conditions. DNA can be thought of as a string of nucleotide sequences represented by the letters A, G, C and T. If the DNA of any two individuals were compared, variations would be found approximately once every two thousand letter positions. Those variations are called SNPs. Scientific research has determined that many identified SNPs can be associated with an increased risk of certain diseases and the symptoms commonly associated with aging. The DNA Assessment measures your body’s DNA damage function rate by analyzing the chemical processes that reflect repair of damaged DNA base pairs. It also measures the level of free radicals (the major source of DNA damage) of the cell’s lipid membranes.
